  • Careem, Middle East based ride-hailing service provider raised $350M in Series D round led by Rakuten and Saudi Telecom Company (STC). Link
  • Mobike, China-based bicycle rental platform, raised $215M in Series D round led by Tencent, Sequoia & CTrip. Link
  • 99 (formerly 99 Taxis), Brazil-based cab-hailing service provider raised $100M in Series D round from Didi Chuxing. Link
  • Hyperloop Transportation, a mobility solution provider based on Hyperloop technology, raised $30M in Series B round led by EdgeWater Capital. Link

  • Uber, an on-demand taxi service provider acquired Geometric Intelligence, a New York-based startup, and using the 15-person team to launch a new artificial intelligence division within Uber, called Uber AI Labs. Link
  • Hyperloop Transportation Technologies (HTT) has signed an agreement to explore connecting a hyperloop system from Slovakia to Czech Republic. Link

Samocat (2016, Strasbourg) – Kick scooter rentals provider. Also, have an app to pay and unlock the kick scooters.

Uber (2009, SF, $10.71B) – Uber is an on-demand taxi service provider. Backed by First Round Capital, Benchmark, Menlo Ventures, Baidu, Fidelity Investments, Google Ventures and Tata Capital among others.

Didi Chuxing (2012, Beijing, $8.32B) – Didi Chuxing is a company made up of China’s two largest taxi-hailing firms- Didi Dache and Kuaidi Dache as result of a merger in Feb 2015. Backed by Tencent and Alibaba among others.
Lyft (2012, SF, $2.11B) – Lyft facilitates cab hailing and peer-to-peer ridesharing by connecting passengers who need a ride with drivers. Majority ride providers are professional drivers. Backed by A16Z, Alibaba, and Facebook among others.
Grab Taxi (2012, Singapore, $1.44B) – GrabTaxi is an automated location-based smartphone booking and dispatch platform for the taxi industry in South East Asia. Backed by Vertex Ventures, Tiger Global, SoftBank, and Qunar among others.

Ofo (2015, Beijing, $135M) – Ofo.so is a P2P bicycle rental platform. Backed by Matrix Partners China, Didi Chuxing, and GSR Ventures China.
